With Lucho out with a knee injury and Goalkeeper M.Stroud on holiday, Bang came in goal as cover, with 1 sub and no match played last week due to a forfeit CBFC were raring to go. The game was competitive, with Cillit Bang FC holding onto a lead for the whole match, braving 5 to 10 minutes of intense pressure and needed 3 hat-tricks to earn the win.
Someplace in Europe on an atmospheric Tuesday night just before 8pm, a match of vital importance to both teams begun (and im not talking about Champions League Quarter Final 2nd Leg between Barcelona and Arsenal), im talking about Cillit Bang FC against Misfits. 2 teams in the bottom half of the table, and both teams looking for back to back wins (even though CBFC's previous match was a forfeit).
The match started off fairly even, but with just 1 minute gone a goal from Wrench started the scoring.
Goal 1-0 [Wrench] Bang releases Wrench down the right and from a tight angle a fierce shot through the legs of the keeper starts the match off to a great start for CBFC.
The shots were coming thick and fast from Misfits, some of the shooting was off and Bang in goal stood firm when called upon, with the next attack CBFC made them pay.
Goal 2-0 [B. Stroud] Pressure on the opposition allows Wrench to dispossess the defender and shoot, his shot parried into the path of Long on hand to strike the ball back across the goal, Wrench holds off the defender, the ball hit off the side for B. Stroud to hit the ball swiftly and avoid the tackle past the keeper from close range. B. Stroud now on his best scoring run of 4 games.
In a period of pressure from Misfits they wiped the lead by drawing scores level, the playmaker in yellow appearing all over the pitch and proving difficult to handle for Cillit Bang FC. The lead didn't last long though a few continuous balls out from Bang eventually found Lambon.
Goal 3-2 [Lambon] Bang rolls the ball outside the area to Lambon, under immediate pressure he slips the ball forward to Wrench, his turn and shot is blocked, the loose ball is picked up by Lambon's run off the ball past the last defender and slides the ball past the keeper. Lambon's goal tally for the season has officially opened.
Close calls for CBFC were the order of the day in this passage of play, the best chance falling to the attacker on the edge of the area after a sloppy pass across the field by Mike, luckily his shot was dragged wide and foulled on his follow up attempt. From the resulting free kick, Long wastefully conceded a free kick on the edge of the area, this cost dearly as with Long being the one man wall, the taker had an easy goal. With danger of almost going behind, clever play and a fortunate own goal restored the lead.
Goal 4-3 [Own Goal] Bang cleverly rolls a disguised pass out to Lambon, an immediate one two with Wrench and the return pass to Lambon's forward run comes off the defender's toe in an attempt to cut out the pass and past the helpless keeper.
Goal 5-3 [Long] Just 19 seconds later Cillit Bang FC double their lead with a fine goal, from the back Bang rolls the ball to Mike, he sends it wide to Wrench, he passes inwards to Lambon who with eyes in the back of his head threads a diagonal through ball to the unmarked Long... a powerful, precise side foot into the corner opens Long's account for the season aswell, ending his current goal drought.
A great stop off Bang's rear end was a laugh after the attacker dummys his first shot.
Goal 6-4 [Lambon] Another roll out from Bang to Wrench, he brings the forward out and comes through a tackle, Lambon's run on the right reaps his reward after taking the ball on scoring his 2nd on the night. Lambon's goal drought from defense well and truly wiped.
Good piece of play enables Long to have a shot, opponent took a poor free kick, Long smashes it into the wall for the resulting free kick, ball ends up to Bang who sets an immediate attack.
Goal 7-4 [Wrench] Bang rolls the ball out to Wrench, the route closed off down the right by the defender, he side steps the ball in field bringing the ball through the gap evading the defender and tucks the ball with the outside of his boot through the legs of the keeper again.
End of the half ended with minimal action but a B. Stroud shot on the whistle.
Half-Time Score: Cillit Bang FC 7-4 Misfits
Second half started fairly even, Bang pulling off some great saves, B. Stroud's shot saved but the best opportunity come to Long after a back heel by B. Stroud, the defender slipped over the ball and Long just outside the penalty spot blasts it over the bar.
Mike picks up the ball from the missed shot and unleashes a great strike into the top corner forcing the keeper to make a great save. Lambon evades a tackle passes it in field to B. Stroud, he side steps the defender his shot straight at the keeper from the counter attack Lambon counteres and looking for his first hat-trick looks to pass the ball in the far corner, his shot agonisingly wide.
Goal 8-4 [B. Stroud] Pressure all over the pitch by Lambon, Mike and B. Stroud results in Stroud winning the ball inside the opponents half, his quick shot too fast for the keeper to set himself.
B. Stroud's run through the middle and shot is blocked earning a free kick in the same position the opponent scored with in the first half.
Goal 9-4 Free Kick [Wrench] Taking advantage of the one man wall in front of goal, Wrench strikes a low hard shot into the bottom right corner. Wrench's first ever hat-trick for himself and Cillit Bang.
Wrench going close just after with a long range shot almost creeping in off the keepers legs. Then doing some great skill which you don't want to see on camera.
Goal 10-4 [Wrench] Fine double save from Bang, stopping the third he hits the ball out, the attacker passes a loose ball backwards, B. Stroud picks up the ball and his and Wrench's intertwining diagonal runs go hand in hand as Stroud squares the ball for Wrench to take a first time shot into the corner.
Cillit Bang FC's 5 goals without reply was stopped after Misfits finally beat Bang.
Goal 11-5 [Long] Long instantly restores the 6 goal lead, a loose pass (due to pressure by Mike) across the centre of the pitch enables Long to strike a sweet first time shot back across the path of the keeper in off the post. Long's first brace in a game for CBFC.
Pressure Pressure Pressure ensued after a flurry of shooting and Misfits were scoring a goal a minute, Cillit Bang FC were not defensively coping with the wave of attacks and their lead was diminishing, were Cillit Bang FC going to throwaway a big lead. In between the attacks 2 notable shots from B. Stroud and Long were all that was mustered.
Goal 12-8 [B. Stroud] This goal summed up the night in general, Bang making a save the opposing player making a poor pass, Lambon dribbling the ball and passing through to B. Stroud who from a tight angle hits it in the far corner. Simple play, easy goal. Number 14's third hat-trick of the season, over halfway to his target of 5 hat-tricks.
Great saves again this time with some shock horror good passing from CBFC, the best player for Misifits managed to take on 3 players from CBFC and still get his shot away, his touch on the ball well controlled.
Goal 13-8 [Lambon] Wrench dispossesses the defender, his shot off the side straight into Lambon's path. Lambon sets himself and slides it across the keeper to score his hat-trick. Lambon's first hat-trick and in one game he has beaten his previous seasons goal tally.
Wrench came off for Long looking for his hat-trick, the game coming to a close was full of energy as Cillit Bang FC Players pressurised the opposition, even though they conceded a strong finish of a goal a great passing move ended the match with a re-established five goal lead. Cillit Bang FC's shooting was far more clinical than Misfits albeit they came up against Bang who had a superb game in goal.
Goal 14-9 [B. Stroud] From kick-off Long passes to Lambon, passes to B. Stroud, passes back to Lambon, Lambon cuts inside and sends the ball out wide to Mike, Mike holds the play up waits for support and passes to B. Stroud, he cuts inside from the wing and slides it past the keeper. Back to back 4 goal hauls for B. Stroud, 12 goals in 4 games.
