Fozzie Stars in Uninspiring Match
Team News: A. Muppet returns to the line-up. With Rizzo, Oscar unavailable and Swedish Chef on the sidelines with an ankle injury Big Bird drafted in some cover with Mowgli and Matt.
Previous Results: Played 1 Lost 1 - Without a sub and losing ground in the first half, CBFC fought back hard in the second half to stop Parcelona's chance creation.
First Half
As expected Parcelona FC started strongly passing to feet and working the chances. Hitting the crossbar, forcing Big Bird to clear the ball close to the line to help out Fozzie while Fozzie himself made a simple enough save. On the other hand little possession was kept with the players chasing the ball the majority of the time.

4 minutes in until the inevitable goal, a passing move ended with the ball finding its way between Gonzo, Kermit, Big Bird and Fozzie for the striker to bundle home the ball.
Matt and Mowgli came into the side as gradually a little more in attack started to appear resulting in what was a killer chance to level the scores by Gonzo. After the two M's won the ball back a lovely pass forward and cross gave Gonzo the simple task of sidefooting the ball into the net, unfortunately the ball sliced off the boot.

After playing well since conceding it was the positioning of all the players on the pitch, all bunched up, in the build-up to the second goal. A harmless kick in deep in the Parcelona half was dribbled out of danger too easily with a simple pass through to goal allowing the previous PFC scorer too much time on the ball. With the first touch not ideal the finish was fortunate to find its way past Fozzie's presence.

Gonzo's outside of the boot pass to set off Mowgli is intercepted, a few pieces of passing to setup a shot outside the box, Kermit gets a toe to the ball but cannot get enough of a block to stop the ball going in.
The half ended much like the first encounter 3-0, dominated in all areas CBFC were not troubling the goal.
Second Half
Needing to produce something Kermit and Matt both tried shots from outside the box after winning the ball back aggressively. Matt's was the closest after the block by the defender deflected the ball millimetres past the wrong side of the post. No luck this time.
With no designated keeper in goal the outfield strikers switched at half-time, the chance of another goalkeeping howler looked out of the question. However when an outfield player is in goal the urge to play the ball around is hard to resist, Kermit closed down the keeper stopping any clearance, flicking the ball towards Mowgli's direction, however the alert defender's clearance just out for a corner was not given.
Fozzie was called into action more than a few occasions, showing quick feet to close down the angle on 1 on 1 shots. Approaching double figures the saves kept coming including a battle between one Parcelona player and Fozzie, he was frustratingly denied by the on form keeper 6 times.
Parcelona FC Penalty Appeal
Parcelona could and possibly should of had a penalty after Matt's tackle took man's foot and not ball.
Facing a period without the ball, in fact almost the entire second half, when the possession came it was continually wasted whether it was goalkicks that were given straight back or stringing two passes together. The chasing of the ball had got too much in the heat as putting pressure on Parcelona became increasingly a tougher ask by the minute.

After holding out for 17 minutes without conceding, the rare attack, a corner is the undoing. Moments before it looked like Mowgli was going to chalk up the first shot on target after quick play from Matt and Big Bird set him up. Tackled, denied and from the corner two Parcelona players fought the ball out of danger with 4 CBFC players out of commission in the process trying to win back the ball. Matt - the lone defender - is beaten with the back post area free for the cross to come in for a tap in.
With over 31 shots on goal, a lack of clinical finishing was evident to see why the team in 1st place were only 4th in the league table's goals scored column closely followed by Stur Crazy in 5th. Combined with Fozzie's superb authority in goal they could not kick on for the second match against CBFC.
With a minute to go, Swedish Chef (having a minutes run out after protecting his ankle injury) was on to create something by taking advantage of the weary legs of all players. Without a shot on target at all both A. Muppet and Chef combined on the right wing from the kick in with a crafty one two. A. Muppet's pass down the wing through the Parcelona player's legs gave Chef a chance to pull the last defender out of position squaring the ball to Kermit. Not tracked, free from defensive pressure, his shot on target was shut down by the keeper as the final whistle blew well into the sixteenth minute.
